When we were initially approached by Marama Kauvesi Vosailagi to have my daughter as one of the rider for the Lupus Foundation Fiji USA Fundraiser/Awareness, I was a bit worried about my daughter riding the 10miles since she has never rode her bike for more than a mile.
It was just a usual bike ride in the park or along the roundabout at Adams Ct for her. My husband and I then remembered his high school mate’s(Tevita Finau) daughter(Lily Finau) who was diagnosed with Lupus. We had a discussion with our daughter that night about Lupus illness and if she was willing to ride her bike with other kids but this time longer than she normally rides. Without thinking twice about our request, she happily said “Yes”. We were so happy with her because we knew that we were not only exposing her for this worthy cause from an early age, she would also learn that there are all kinds of people and life experiences in this World and to always have a grateful attitude in life.
We had to buy her new bike as she grew out of her old one and everyday bike ride training so that she can get comfortable with it.
Today 20th March 2021 which was just a day after her 5th birthday was their first 4 miles ride. I must say that we are super proud of her and all the kids that participated today.
We would like to thank our committee for putting up such a worthy event for our kids and family, to the parents who instill such good values for their kids and to our sponsors for their generous heart in sponsoring these kids and the foundation.
To our Sweet Lily Finau, you were in our mind and heart today when we rode that 4 miles. It is our prayer that God’s healing hand continue to work in your life and your family.
Wohoo…Bring it on the next 6 miles.
This is for you Lily Finau and to all those that are suffering from Lupus
