LFF OFFICIAL EVENTS THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF MAY
- The Lupus Foundation of Fiji will kick-off our Awareness month of May with the usual “Awareness Walk” dubbed “WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES” traditionally held on the first Saturday of the month of May. This year, that Saturday falls on the 2nd of May! The Awareness Walk will be held around the perimeter of Suva’s Albert Park starting off with a warm-up Zumba session underneath the Albert Park Pavilion. There will be bottled water available with the kind compliments of FIJI WATER our long time partner and supporter, and also fresh fruits and health drinks made available to participants on the day. This event is from 6am – 8am. We encourage individuals, families, organizations and corporate groups to support this worthy cause. We’d also like to take this opportunity to once again thank TEAM TILAPIA of Leadership Fiji for supporting us last year in our worthy cause! They managed to raise $600 that morning for the Foundation, from the sale of their packs of Fruit salads! Vinaka Vakalevu!
- Our second official event is INTERNATIONAL LUPUS DAY, which is universally celebrated on the 10th of May. This year, that date falls on a Sunday. Equippers Church Fiji will be celebrating with the Foundation in the form of a “PURPLE SUNDAY” – where their congregation will show up in their ‘purple’ sunday best, and someone from the Foundation will give a 5 minute Awareness Talk on Lupus, during their Sunday morning service. You are all invited to celebrate Purple Sunday with us by wearing something purple to your respective Sunday morning services. However on Monday the 11th of May – the Foundation will officially celebrate International Lupus Day as per usual with a Morning Tea Event which will be held at the Albert Park Pavilion Function Room, from 10am – 12pm. This event also falls on the Lupus Foundation of Fiji’s founding and establishment on the 10th of May 2019. This year – the Foundation is celebrating 7 years since its founding and its work around the country! Please do join us for this occasion if you’re free.
- Our Lupus Charity Dinner dubbed “DANCING WITH LUPUS” is usually held on the last Saturday of the Awareness month of May which this year falls on the 30th. Our Charity Dinner this year is being held at the Central Cuisine Restaurant and the Foundation has engaged Taveuni Catering for the evening. Our live band entertainment will be provided by the Fiji Corrections Service Band! Tickets are now on sale at $100 per person. There are 10 seats per table so please do contact the Lupus Foundation on 869 4112 (for now), if you wish to purchase a ticket or a table. We will make other contact numbers available in the coming days. You can also email admin@lupusfoundationfiji.org for reservations. Do come out and celebrate the month of May with us and end our Awareness month of May, by dancing the night away!
