The Workshop, which was facilitated by a team from UNICEF aimed to strengthen the capacity of CSOs – to effectively integrate nutrition interventions into their existing programs for disease prevention and management. Recognizing the critical role CSOs play in community outreach and service delivery – this workshop focused on developing an “Integrated Nutrition Advocacy Package for Community Engagement”.
The workshop will cover key topics including nutrition and non-communicable diseases, cancer prevention and supportive care, maternal and child nutrition, communicable diseases, food security, climate resilience, and nutrition in emergencies. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications, enabling participants to deliver consistent, culturally appropriate nutrition messages and behaviour change interventions, within their respective communities.
Through interactive sessions, discussions, and experience- sharing, participants will support the development of a nutrition advocacy package, to strengthen community awareness, promote healthy behaviors, and support national nutrition priorities.
The objectives of the workshop are to Strengthen CSO capacity to integrate and deliver evidence-based community nutrition interventions and programs; Enhance community awareness on the role of healthy diets in preventing and managing priority diseases, including NCDs; Promote nutrition across the life course, with a focus on maternal, infant, adolescent and vulnerable populations; Support food security and resilience initiatives by incorporating nutrition into climate, agriculture, and emergency response programs; and Improve coordination and alignment between CSOs and national policies, frameworks, and stakeholders to ensure consistent nutrition messaging and impact.
